Im a 26 year old married father from southern West Virginia.
I have been working with computers and websites for over 10 years.
I started in php/mysql around 2001 building data base driven sites mainly as a hobby. The whole concept of this method of publishing and managing content on a website fascinated me and drove my passion to learn more and explore the possibilities of dynamic generated content.
I began freelance web development (as in, primarily programming, not front end design), in 2008 taking on the odd project here and there, and quickly started taking on full applications and mobile projects. I enjoy working on proof of concept projects in my spare time, such as interfacing database driven content with VOIP to create an interactive telephony application that could collect information from a caller and deliver it dynamically. I also created some software that is available on this site as a matter of necessity and have used them as a basis for many more projects after the fact. I have written several applications for use both on the web solely, as well as apps designed for mobile use.
I started getting heavy into graphic design in late 2007 designing flyers, business cards, logos, full size posters, vinyl graphics, and other web and print graphics for various businesses locally, as well as clients online. I really enjoy helping take a clients vision and watching their excitement as we work together to bring their ideas into reality.
Prior to working freelance (and occasionally still), i worked with local businesses as a web designer for a few years. I enjoyed the work, but it seemed that working locally in a market where there was yet to be a heavy emphasis on internet marketing was premature.
Before i worked professionally in web development and design, i was an NCR CE2 (customer engineer), working on retail POS and server equipment, as well as ATM’s and printers. I worked for a while in my geographic area, and then moved to eastern Kentucky where the job lost a lot of its luster. After working with NCR, i took several contract service technician contract jobs, working for such entities as DELL, MSHA, WV State Lottery, and others doing various install, upgrade, retrofit, and general service contracts. I still enjoy tinkering with computer hardware, yet it seems i cant find as much time to spend doing this as i would like.
